e-Cities ("we", "us", "our") is operated by HoopFrog Inc. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our classifieds marketplace platform. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

We collect personal information that you provide directly and information generated through your use of our services:

• Account information: display name, email address (encrypted at rest), phone number (optional, encrypted at rest), city, province, and postal code.
• Listing content: titles, descriptions, photos, pricing, and location data you provide when creating listings.
• Messages: communications between buyers and sellers through our messaging system (encrypted in transit and at rest).
• Usage data: pages visited, search queries, device type, browser, IP address (hashed for analytics), and session duration.
• Cookies and similar technologies: as described in our Cookie Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

• To create and manage your account.
• To publish and manage your classifieds listings.
• To facilitate communication between buyers and sellers.
• To process transactions and payments.
• To verify your identity and prevent fraud.
• To improve our platform, including search relevance and recommendations.
• To send service-related communications (account verification, listing updates, security alerts).
• To send marketing communications, only with your express consent under CASL.
• To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following circumstances:

• Other users: your display name, city, and listing information are publicly visible. Your email and phone are never displayed publicly.
• Service providers: hosting (OVHcloud, Canada), email delivery, payment processing, and analytics services that process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
• Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of e-Cities, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy:

• Account data: retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• Listings: active listings are public. Expired or deleted listings are purged after 90 days.
• Messages: retained for 1 year after the last message in a conversation, then purged.
• Usage logs: anonymized or deleted after 12 months.
• Consent records: retained for 3 years to demonstrate compliance.

6. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: you may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion: you may request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Withdrawal of consent: you may withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
• Data portability: you may request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.

8. Children

e-Cities is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information.

9. International Transfers

Your personal information is stored and processed in Canada. If we transfer data outside of Canada, we ensure that adequate safeguards are in place as required by PIPEDA.
